In Galatians 6:7–9, Paul reminds believers of a powerful spiritual principle: we reap what we sow. Every decision, habit, relationship, priority, and act of obedience plants a seed that can shape who we become and what our lives produce.
Pastor Jeff explains that spiritual growth rarely happens overnight. Just as a harvest requires planting, time, cultivation, and patience, becoming the person God desires us to be happens through consistent faithfulness. The small choices we make today—spending time in God’s Word, praying, serving, forgiving, encouraging others, investing in our marriages and families, and following the Holy Spirit—can produce a much greater harvest over time.
The message highlights six realities of the harvest: we can only harvest what we plant; the harvest takes time; small seeds can produce a great harvest; we reap in proportion to what we sow; the harvest requires perseverance; and while we cannot replant yesterday, we can choose to plant differently today.
This principle is not karma or a way to earn God’s favor. Salvation and righteousness come through the grace of Jesus Christ, not through our good works. Yet our choices still carry consequences, and God calls us to faithfully sow into the life He desires for us.
When progress seems slow and all we can see is dirt, we should not assume nothing is happening. Don’t mistake buried for dead. God can be working beneath the surface even when the harvest isn’t visible yet. Paul therefore encourages believers not to grow weary in doing good, because at the proper time we will reap if we do not give up.
The question for every believer is simple but challenging: If your choices today are planting your life tomorrow, what are you planting? Through God’s grace, our past does not have to determine our future. Today is another opportunity to faithfully plant seeds that can produce a harvest for God’s Kingdom and His glory.
